Create a PBwiki Account

You'll need to do this to edit this wiki.  You have the option to use OpenID if you don't want to use your email address.

1. Go to my.pbwiki.com
2. Click on "Sign up!"
3. Enter your name, email address, and create a password
4. Check your inbox for an email from PBwiki Registration (Also check Spam!)
5. Click the verification link 

Start Editing 

The long-awaited Publicly Editable feature has been added to this wiki.

1. Make sure you're logged into your PBwiki Account (you'll see your email address in the upper right hand corner)
2. Click the Edit button on any page you want to change
3. You'll be automatically added as a writer to this wiki, and can edit it at any time
4. You'll receive email notifications for changes made to this wiki [see here for how to turn them off]
5. Note: If you're a jerkface troll, I can and will block you.

Edit a Page

The first step to making a change in the world is making a change on the wiki.  Don't worry if you mess up, everything's undoable.

1. Make sure you're logged into your PBwiki Account (you'll see your email address in the upper right hand corner)
2. Click the Edit button on any page you'd like to add to
3. Use the editor bar to make formatting changes
4. Don't forget to hit save!

Insert a Link

Linking to outside information can be easy, once you get the hang of it.

1. Highlight the text you want to be clickable.
2. Click the button, or press Apple+L (Crtl+L on a PC) to get to the link dialog.
3. Add a link to an existing page, or a new one by selecting "PBwiki Page"
4. Add a link to an outside URL by selecting "URL"
5. Don't forget to save your page when you're done editing!

Editing Existing Information

Here's some guidelines if you're shy:

• Don't be afraid to correct wrong information, or add to it. Everyone's fallible, and sometimes information changes over time.
• Don't be upset if your edits get changed.  I know I'm a little anal abou t spelling and grammar, and I do want this wiki to look nice.
• If you feel that something's been changed incorrectly, instead of having an edit war, let me know, and we'll figure it out.
• Be bold!  I'd rather see you running around editing pages and making a few mistakes than being too afraid to try at all.

How to Organize

A little daunting?  No worries, I've tried to make it as organized as possible.

• For each city/region, please title each page with the postal abbreviation, a dash and the name of the area (ex: AK-Fairbanks or CA-SouthSFBayArea) Spaces, +'s or -'s are also fine to separate words
• I've created each area with the states based on craigslist areas - if you have a better suggestion, let me have it!
• Please tag each state page with the appropriate weather issues (ex: California is tagged with extreme heat, earthquake and drought)
• Natural disaster pages and the like all go in the Emergency Preparedness Folder  

Turn off Notifications

Too many notifications?  No problem.

Change to 1 email/day

1. Go to my.pbwiki.com and log in
2. Scroll down to "Preferences" and change drop-down to "At most once per day"

Turn off Altogether

1. Go to my.pbwiki.com and log in
2. Un-check the "Enable Notificaions" box next to resources4women.pbwiki.com
